EVENT OVERVIEW
We are lucky to be welcomed to a guided tour of Winstone Aggregates Hunua Quarry, one of the largest quarrying operations in New Zealand. This rare opportunity to be shown the history of the quarry, the extraction operations, the crushing operations and what Winstones is doing to leave the environment better than they found it.
The tour will begin with a sit-down and explanation of the history, operations, site features and a chat with Winstone Aggregates Environmental Manager Ian Wallace. We will then be split into groups to go out into the quarry and be shown where the action happens from the blasting in the deep pit through to where the crushed stone is loaded, weighed and carted out on road to projects all over the Auckland & Waikato.
Winstone Aggregates is also putting on a barbeque and refreshments after the tour which will include an opportunity to ask Mitch O'Kane (Quarry Manager) and his team any further questions (we're sure there will be plenty to talk about!).
